‘Only Fools and Horses’ Features Our Unique Rolls Royce Hearse

Only Fools and Horses is British television show that was popular in the 1980’s, and still remains one of the nation’s favourite sitcoms. The series follows the lives of Del Boy and Rodney Trotter, who are traders in South London. Throughout the series they try plenty of get-rich-quick schemes. The humorous situations Del Boy and Rodney get themselves into is not only the reason the nation fell in love with these daft characters; its also because of their strong, brotherly bond that warmed the hearts of viewers.
At The Alty Funeral Service, we are very honoured to have a member of our fleet of Rolls Royce funeral cars featured in a scene during the Christmas Special of Only Fools and Horses on the 25th of December 1987. During the episode, The Frog’s Legacy, we see our stunning hearse following the unforgettable character, Rodney Trotter, just after he finds out he’ll be working at a local funeral directors.
Below is a small snippet from the scene. The number plate had to be changed for the filming of this, but the instinctive exterior is just as recognisable.

The car you see here is the Rolls Royce Phantom VI hearse (number plate: 361 ALT). There were only five of these made, and there are just two of these left in the world now. We have one of the distinctive Rolls Royce hearses here at The Alty Funeral Service.
The unique funeral car continued its moments of fame by carrying East Lancashire pop and TV legend, Cilla Black, at her funeral in 2015. We hope to get more opportunities to showcase our distinctive fleet of Rolls Royce funeral cars in the future.
